It is our goal to create for you the best possible product for you. We create each piece by hand, one at a time. Please allow for the stated time needed to create each piece listed on the individual product page. Before you have decided on a product, please read the following information.

Pride of ownership is Key...

Speaker Sizes and Listening Positions

Size matters - Speakers interact with the room where they are placed.  Speakers may be either too large for a room, or too small.  Sound can be distorted, or you may have to drive speakers too hard to fill a space.  To determine what size speaker is best suited for your space, you may follow the guidelines below.  There is no concrete formula: any JWM speaker can be used in any sized room.

Room size - Measure the room’s square feet. This is simple. Length x Width = Square Feet.

  • Small room: under 180 Square feet
  • Medium room: between 180 and 400 Square feet
  • Large room: over 400 square feet

Room volume

- Multiply the room’s square footage by ceiling height.  If you have a vaulted ceiling, use an average.  For example, using a ceiling height of 8 feet:

  • Small room: under 1,440 cubic feet
  • Medium room: between 1,400 and 3,200 cubic feet
  • Large room: over 3,200 cubic feet

Another way to think of it is that a typical bedroom is “small”, a larger living space is “medium” and a banquet-style room is “large.”  In a home, connected rooms in which you may place your speakers, such as a kitchen and great room, should be considered together.

Listening Position- Is your room square, rectangular, L-shaped? Where will you sit in the room? How far will you be from the speakers?  Don't stress too much on this.  All JWM speakers were bred from near-field studio monitors. They may sound different depending on listening position, but they will still sing.

We are happy to consult with you.  We want you to choose the system that fits for you.  You will have the system for generations, so let's get it right.  Feel free to call.

Quick Speaker size guide - This should be the easiest way to determine what size JWM speakers you will need.

  • Small room: NET-1
  • Medium room: ALYSON AML or JANE JKM
  • Large room: JANE JKM

This is only a quick guide. Should you need more information, or a consultation to be sure, please give us a call.

Color and Wood Options

Cabinet colors - Let's choose a color! The standard colors used in our speaker cabinets, wings, and stands are piano black and white.  However, we are happy to do any Standox or 3M colors.

Wood finishes - As a standard, all finishes are a high tech, post catalyzed conversion varnish. Depending on your taste, we are happy to do several different types of finishes as well. This can include lacquer and/or oil finishes.  Products can be finished in a satin or ultra-high gloss finish.

Wood Options - We offer our standard woods witch include Monkeypod, Mango, Sapele, Maple, Wenge and Purple Heart.

Turntables and Bare Naked Plinths

Turntable Options - Where do we begin? The options for turntables in almost unlimited. As a standard, we offer the KAREN 3 and 6. This is a direct modification of the REGA P3 and P6 Turntable. With the KAREN 6, we also offer the modified control unit the KAREN CONTROL. This unit can be added to the Karen 3 for an additional charge or purchased alone.

Turntable woods – The same color, finish and wood options available for our speaker systems are available for turntables.

Monkeypod plinths

Custom Turntables

- If you have an arm you adore, or perhaps even a motor you can't live without, let us know. Often we can fit anything to a KAREN deck. This also goes for any other turntable under the sun. We can build you many of the currently available plinths and wood parts for your LINN also. Just let us know what you are looking for.

Bare Naked Plinths - If you already have a REGA P3 or P6, we offer new and upgraded kits that will replace your current plinth and TTPSU. Each kit comes with all the parts needed to do a complete upgrade to your existing system. All you need is a tiny bit of technical knowhow and some confidence. If this is intimidating for you, no problem. Send us your current machine and we will do it for you at a reasonable price.

Turntable Accessories

KAREN CLAMPS - We offer a range of pucks to fit your KAREN. These will also work with any table you like. How about getting one to match the same wood as your plinth. Again, all are available in any finish you like. As you shop for your new clamp, you will notice that each one has a weight next to it. You will also notice that each wood has a unique overall density. This is why we treat each piece as an individual work of art. How do you choose? That’s easy!

Match Yours - All are equal in quality, whether it be monkeypod or purple heart. The difference is in the weight and density of the wood. The first number indicates the weight of the clamp, the second the density.  For example, “180/medium” is the grams of weight the clamp will apply to the center of you record. The “medium” indicates the clamp will move more vibration away from the record than a “hard” density will. Should you be looking for a more damped product, you should look for a less dense wood. Keep in mind, that the less density, the less the wood will weigh.

Confused yet? - Well don’t be. Many audiophiles choose to keep many clamps for each table they use. Some choose 180gm clamps for 180gr records, some choose 200gm and feel they get more from coupling the vinyl to the platter. Some feel one record company’s vinyl responds better to one weight and density while others perform better at yet another weight and density.  There is no right answer, but we have tried to take as much of the guesswork out as possible and ensure you make a good choice.

KAREN Clamp Options - You can pick your options at checkout. When in doubt, give us a call.

HI-FI Accessories

Cable Cradles - Cable Cradles can be purchased individually or as a set. You are welcome to mix and match. All of the finishes and materials available for JWM speakers and turntables can be used here.

How to choose a Cradle? - There is no deep formula here. Each of the Cradles has been designed to isolate your cables from vibrations and static electricity.  Each one, no matter the wood or finish, will work. The only difference is in the size and weight of each cradle.

Cradle size - Naturally, if you are using larger cables, you will more than likely need larger Cradles. We offer 2 sizes: Small (5") and Large (7"). This measurement is the width of the base of each cradle.

Split Cradles - Split cradles are just that. They have a split up the middle to accommodate flat or ribbon cables. This allows the cable to stand vertically in the Cradle.  This helps keep cables protected and organized.

Acoustic Accessories

Coming soon! - In late 2015, JWM Acoustics will launch a line of acoustic room treatments. Each will provide enhanced room integration from your audio system as well as an aesthetic appeal that even an interior decorator will approve.

The materials - Each piece in the line will be customizable to fit any room, or to match the woods and look of your existing JWM components.

Have fun with it! - We are excited about these pieces for many reasons. One, they are simple. In all my years of working on room voicing, we keep discovering that simple works best. The fun part is making sure that the acoustic enhancements are invisible whenever possible. When not possible, the goal is to make them an inviting accessory in the room that pleases the eye as well as the ear. These new products will also allow you to match fabric components in your room.
